Yorkshire Terrier
The Yorkshire terrier is a small dog with a height ranging from 7 to 9 inches, and a weight ranging from 3 to 7 pounds. Larger Yorkies are not show dogs, but much healthier and sturdier. Smaller Yorkies are often weaker and less healthy. It’s small and flat skull accompanies a tapered black nose. Its ears are erect and triangular shaped. And the tail is medium length, docked, and positioned a little higher than the dog’s back. The Yorkie’s coat is straight, silky, shiny, and long enough to reach the floor. Long hair on the dog’s head is typically parted so that it hangs down on the sides, or tied into a bow. The muzzle hair is also long, blending into the dog’s chest hair. Adults sport steel blue and tan colors, while Yorkshire terrier puppies sport a black and tan coat.
The best owner for this type of dog is one who lives in a suburban or urban home. Because it’s so small, it makes a great apartment companion. Yorkshire terriers make great pets for first time dog owners as well those who want something to spoil.
