Physical Description:

The Airedale Terrier is a deep-chested, large sized dog with a height ranging from 22 - 23 inches, and a weight ranging from 45 - 50 pounds. Its long, square head bears a muzzle that’s as long as its head. Its oval eyes are dark, and its triangular ears are upright and set on the either side of the skull. Airedale Terrier tails are long and slightly curved. The waterproof double coat has a soft undercoat and an outer coat that’s hard, thick, straight and wiry. The texture can be sharply wavy or slightly wavy. Colors include tan and black, with tan dominating the abdomen, chest, ears, head, and lower part of legs. Red may be mixed with black (or a black pattern) which dominates the upper body and gradually fades toward the legs to look like a saddle. The chest may bear a white blaze.

Best Owner and Environment:

The best owner for this type of dog is one who has experience with dogs, who live with older children, and who lives in a rural or suburban area.
